Passenger traffic at Cape Verde’s airports rose 11 percent year on year in 2010, from 1.44 million to 1.6 million, the country’s airport management company, Empresa Nacional de Aeroportos e Segurança (Asa) said in Praia Friday.
According to the state-owned company, which manages the airports and air traffic in Cape Verde, the 2010 results exceeded forecasts and confirmed a slight upturn in tourism and the air transport sector.
Asa also said that domestic aircraft traffic increased by 6.2 percent and international traffic by 12.2 percent.
The international airports of Sal, Praia and Boavista saw the greatest traffic.
In contrast to the trend seen in previous years, air cargo in 2010 saw a rise of 9.2 percent, exceeding 3.6 million kilos of cargo, with the greatest rise seen in domestic cargo (growth of 14.4 percent). (macauhub)
