Date: 07/07/2012 SAL AND SAN VICENTE SIGN NEW DESALINATION DEAL
Due to the increasing tourism in Cape Verde France plans to provide Cape Verde with a loan of 22.2 million euros to be used in a project to improve drinking water supply on Sal and San Vicente, the Cape Verdean press reported Thursday.
Plans are in place to buy 2 new desalination plants to produce 5000 cubic meters of water a day and improve the existing facilities.
This is another important development in the improving infracstructure in Cape Verde, a country with very low rainfall.
An agreement to provide the loan was signed Wednesday in Praia by the Cape Verdean Finance and Planning Minister, Cristina Duarte, and by the director of the French Development Agency (AFD) for Cape Verde, Denis Castaing.
