Cape Verde ends 2017 with 275 hotel units

By the end of 2017, Cape Verde had 275 hotel establishments in operation, 42 more than in the previous year, or an increase of 18.0%, according to the annual inventory carried out by the West African archipelago’s National Statistics Institute (INE).
Hotel establishments had an accommodation capacity of 12,643 rooms, 20,421 beds and 26,987 places, with increases of 9.0%, 11.1% and 10.7%, respectively, compared to figures for 2016.
In 2017, a total of 8,825 people were employed in hotel establishments, an increase of 14.0% against 2016, with the majority of these workers on the island of Sal, accounting for 56% of the total.
