After beating Eswatini 3-0 at home, Cape Verde has qualified for its first ever World Cup and is the second-smallest nation to do so.  Cape Verde President Jose Maria Neves was in attendance for the historic win.  The country, which comprises an archipelago of 10 islands, has a population of just under 525,000.

The Cape Verde team, known as the Blue Sharks, will take part in the contest which will take place in 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the US.  This will be a huge event for the country, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of its independence this year.
