In February, the RIU hotel group plans to complete the construction, on the island of Sal, of one of its largest hotels, the new RIU Palace Santa Maria, with 1,001 rooms and an investment of more than 100 million euros. Sales have already started from March. The hotel is located on the beautiful south western tip of the island.The hotel will have 5 swimming pools and a water park. Hundreds of workers have been busy constructing the hotel while the island has been almost completely closed to tourist activity due to the pandemic.
Finance Minister Olavo Correira who visited the hotel site over the weekend stated "In the midst of the pandemic, the works of this high-quality enterprise did not stop.
We are facing a sign of enormous confidence that the RIU Group places in Cape Verde and in the future of our country. This is a large-scale investment.
There are more than 100 million euros at this stage, with more than 1,000 rooms, and it will employ more than 600 people, permanently".
This world class hotel and other ongoing major investments will ensure the future of tourism on Sal, and Cape Verde in general.
