Cape Verde receives 383,000 tourists from January to June 2018

Cape Verde’s hotel establishments received 383,500 guests from January to June 2018, with more than 2.2 million overnight stays, an increase of 10% over those booked in the same period of 2017, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
In the second quarter, the number of guests increased by 9.5% year-on-year to 168,100, which provided 1.0 million overnight stays with an average stay of 6.2 nights.
The United Kingdom was the main country of origin of tourists, with 25.1% of total entries, followed by Portugal (12.1%), Germany (11.4%), France (10%), Belgium and the Netherlands (9.2%).
Tourists from the United Kingdom were also the ones with the longest stay in Cabo Verde, with an average stay of 8.5 nights, followed by the Netherlands (7.2 nights), Germany (6.9) and Italy with a stay of 6.8 nights.
The Island of Sal remained the most popular, with 48.4% of the total entries, followed by Boavista Island, with 27.2% and Santiago with 12.7%, with the order relative to overnight stays the same, with the island of Sal accounting for 55.0%, Boavista with 34.1% and Santiago with 5.0%.
